EDGARS group subsidiary Jet Stores has recorded 16 000 accounts, less than a month after its launch, as the company moves ahead to offer services that are tailor-made to suit the pockets of low-earners.
In an emailed response to questions by Sunday Business Edgars group marketing executive Ms Rumbidzai Dzimba said the facility had significantly widened the company customer base.

“The response from our customers is overwhelming. We now have over 16 000 accounts nationwide on our Jet credit accounts portfolio since the launch,” she said.

The credit accounts were officially launched on 24 April.
Ms Dzimba said the decision to open a credit facility was a response to the needs of Jet customers.

“Our customers have been asking for the credit facility in our Zimbabwe Jet stores, hence we responded to that request. We also want to create and nurture a lasting relationship with our Jet customers. This will enable us to create value for our customers, our employees and our shareholders,” said Ms Dzimba.

She assured Jet customers that the company would soon avail other financial services meant to improve their welfare.
“We are happy with the support we are getting from our Jet customers. We will soon be extending other financial services products to our customers,” she said.

A snap survey carried out by this paper in the city of Bulawayo shows that the credit facility is popular with middle and low income earners, most of who are Government workers.

“The Jet credit facility is a welcome development coming at a time when cash is hard to come by. Its flexible payment terms, coupled with low prices associated with Jet Stores, makes it more attractive to the poor,” said Ms Enesia Nyathi, a civil servant based at Mhlahlandlela government complex.
Jet is a retail brand under Edgars Stores Limited.

It has 25 stores nationwide and can be found across Zimbabwe.
