SHABANIE Mine has signed prodigal son Zvenyika Makonese on a season loan. Makonese has been club hunting for the past three years after leaving the asbestos miners during the 2011 season. The former Black Santos and Orlando Pirates defender had tried his luck at Triangle, How Mine and

Highlanders without success and was living a tough life since parting ways with the Ruud Krol coached team.

He was at one time pronounced dead by the South African media after his departure from Pirates in 2009. He also tried to join Sunday Chidzambwa’s Black Leopards in South Africa but it in vain.

“I have signed a one year deal with my former team. I would like to urge the fans to rally behind the technical team, executive and the players and we will deliver the goods. It feels good to be back and I hope my experience will add value to the Chinda Boys and my wish is to see the old days coming back. I thank my coach (John Phiri) for having faith in me and I feel I still have the energy,” said Makonese.

Shabanie also managed to lure the services of former Monomotapa players Godknows Murwira, Nelson Merson, Hamilton Masumbuko and Zvikomborero Biseck, Carlos Messi from Motor Action and Douglas Sibanda from Highlanders.

Louis Matawu also returned to Zvishavane albeit this time to join Shabanie following a stint with rivals FC Platinum, Motor Action and Tripple B. Phiri was ecstatic after getting the players.

“They are committed; they have good attitude and experience. I am now feeling at home and I want the players to rally behind the team and results will come.

“We lost the services of more than 20 players and I am just appealing to the fans to be patient and I am sure results will come. Makonese is one of the strongest players in the league and he can play for another season,” he said.
