THE BULAWAYO Motoring Club will on Saturday host the second leg of the nationals, which have been dubbed the John Love Trophy.  The race will see Bulawayo and Harare competitors taking part, hoping to achieve just a small amount of the glory that the legendary John Love reached.  This will be the second round of the championship. The opening round was staged in Harare on 8 March.

BMC vice-president Zane Shah said the event would also feature Themba Khumalo from Munroe Racing South Africa and, his compatriot Zimbabwean Tiffany Fisher who plies her trade with the club. “Monroe Racing are the official sponsors of female biker Fisher and she has also been racing for them and will also feature at the event as she took part in the first leg in Harare,” said Shah.

According to Shah four of the seven rounds that make up the race were concluded in Harare with the racers battling for the remaining three rounds in Bulawayo.

“The race will feature a practice session which will be for an hour and a half and all drivers and bikers are required to go through the format and then a qualifying session will be held and this helps time-keepers in placing fast and slow competitors strategically and the actual race will then take up most of the day,” he said.

Racers are set to battle it out in four different classes, which include the saloon races, sport cars, Megelli’s series, and Super bikes.
BMC will feature their favourites with the likes of Darren Pragji in his Datsun, Julian Van Vuuren racing the Honda , Shah in the Conquest, Jimmy Zevgolis in his Red Golf, Dean Norman, with new comers and Ultimate Street Car challengers of Dino Khamal, Ross Mckop taking on Julian and Sam Nyamapheka.

“Harare challengers expected at the race are drivers Ian Howden in his Corolla, Kevin Allmark in his Ford, Lorraine Randall in her Mini and Christy Laing in her Starlet who look set to dominate and show the men how it is done,” Shah said.
