ZIMBABWEAN heartthrob Tongayi Arnold Chirisa has added another feather in his cap after earning a starring role in the second season of blockbuster Hollywood comedy series, The Guest Book.

The series is set to further propel Charisa’s meteoric rise in the star studded world of Hollywood, as he looks set to follow compatriot Danai Gurira as Zimbabwe’s greatest small and big screen export.

Although his role in the upcoming season of the comedy series has not yet been outlined, Chirisa has proved to be an asset wherever he goes, having portrayed a number of colourful characters since his move to Hollywood nine years ago.

His most recent prominent roles have seen him portray a charismatic Zimbabwean priest on the now cancelled Jim Gaffigan show and an appearance as Justin Bell in iZombie.

The Guest Book, a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Turner’s Studio T, was a breakout show for US TV channel TBS last year. The show was 2017’s number one new cable comedy, reaching more than three million viewers per episode across TBS’s linear, VOD, and digital platforms.

An American anthology comedy television series created by Greg Garcia, the series stars Charlie, Robinson, Carly Jibson, Lou Wilson, and Kelly Martin and is centred on the lives of the employees and visitors to a group of rental cottages in the small mountain town of Mount Trace.

The regular cast plays residents in the town, with each episode focused on a different guest star who plays an out-of-town vacationer.

The appearance in the popular show is likely to boost Chirisa’s stock in Hollywood,                                                         where he continues to land roles that cement his position as one of the best talents from Africa.

The Harare-born Chirisa began his acting career in 2002 with a role in now defunct soap opera, Studio 263.

Two years later he starred in the local feature film, Tanyaradzwa, before relocating to Johannesburg, where he enrolled at The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA). After a few major roles in that country, he left to pursue his ultimate dream in America.
