WHILE few are still slumbering and contemplating what the future holds for them this year, other performing artistes have already picked up where they left in 2017 and kicked-off 2018 in style.

It might be the very first month of the year but some artistes seem determined to take their careers to another level and have made their intentions clear by releasing promising tracks. Various artistes have dropped new songs and look to have been inspired by their success at last year’s award ceremonies which seem to be driving them towards putting in more work in an effort to repeat their 2017 triumphs.

Award winning artistes like Chipman, Base Wasilewski, Vuyo Brown and DJ Seth Diamond are among popular acts who have recently released brand new tracks that are expected to make an impact on their audiences.

Their peers in the industry are yet to release new songs but have been quietly hard at work in the studio. They are working on projects that are set for release in the next few weeks. They have been tirelessly working day and night to make sure their output is on point.

One of the artistes who have been tweaking his much-hyped new album launch is Zimbabwe’s own “Gafa”, Winky D. Thousands of dancehall lovers are anticipating the Paita Party hit makers offering whose launch is drawing closer by the day. However, it is unlikely that the “Ninja President” is feeling any undue pressure as he has consistently delivered ever since his arrival on the scene with the explosive Bigman hit track and undisputed ability capture audiences during his stage performances.

This early run is expected to guarantee a gruelling season of hit releases during the course of the year and a major shout for each and every one of the top acts at various 2018 music awards.

The year 2018 could turn out to be a major challenge for those responsible for nominating possible awards winners with most big names in the country likely to produce stunning offerings for their demanding publics.

However, to local radio station Skyz Metro FM, it means more content will be delivered which will allow the station to remain fresh and appeal to its listenership.

While many artistes have already hit the ground, Bulawayo’s Madlela Sikhobokhobo whose hit Ngamnanka has been extensively credited for his stardom is yet to release a track in 2018. It is still fairly early, but no doubt the humorous Madlela will soon make his mark and get his groove back.

Fans also expect one of the many Acapella/Imbube groups to come up with new offerings, and after a successful 2017 the likes of Impumelelo Shining Stars and Nobuntu are very much expected to release something for the fans soon. -@NcubeBhekumuzi
