IT will be a football extravaganza this afternoon at Barbourfields Stadium with two potential mouth watering ties Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches. The first match will see How Mine take on premiership league contenders Triangle while defending champions Dynamos face Tsholotsho in a fixture the Harare-based side will be hoping to win to

continue with their fight to retain the league title.
Both matches would be screened live on Supersport.

DeMbare will be buoyed by their win against Triangle at Gibbo Stadium during a mid-week tie and are coming to face Tsholotsho with their heads high.
Tsholotsho managed to hold their own when they forced a draw against Caps United at home although Iziqholo zeZhwane know they need all the points they can amass if they are to survive relegation.

DeMbare will be hoping to continue with their fine league performance under new coach, Tonderayi Ndiraya who has managed two wins in his first two games. The champions beat ZPC and Triangle in crucial wins to boost Ndiraya’s confidence after he took over from David Mandigora.

Dynamos manager Richard Chihoro said they get better results when playing at Barbourfields Stadium and he does not expect anything different today although admitting that Tsholotsho were a good side.

He said the past two wins have given his boys the much needed confidence.
“Winning our previous two matches has brought a positive psyche in camp and the boys are confident and the morale is high. We are raring to go and we take Barbourfields as our second home ground because we get better results when playing there.

“However, we are not taking anything away from Tsholotsho because they are a good side and I think they have only been unlucky not to get results coming their way but we are intent on making them run tomorrow,” said Chihoro.

Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe said they were ready to face the defending champions and relish the clash.
He said it was the dream of every player to face a team of DeMbare’s stature as they would want to prove a point.
“It is every player’s dream to play against a team of DeMbare’s stature and we are well prepared for the game and the players are raring to go.

“We will certainly be going for a win and nothing else and we are not going in for a draw so we won’t defend but we will play our normal attacking game. We will certainly go at them, I think being defensive will work against us, it is not a strategy that one employs when heading for such games,” he said.

Sweswe said they might have done well to earn themselves a draw in the reverse fixture at Rufaro, they are aware that a lot has happened since they played that game, with Dynamos now having a new coach, new players and their style of play different.

“I think it’s a whole new game because a lot about them has changed including the coach, and they also now have Rodreck Mutuma and Takesure Chinyama in their attack who have been coming in with the goals, so we have to prepare well and not bank on our last show against them,” he said, adding his team was injury free.

If Tsholotsho is to escape relegation they would have to start collecting maximum points. They are on position 12 going into today’s game having amassed 17 points and any slip up could prove disastrous for the Premiership debutants. The signing of former Highlanders stars, Joel Luphahla and Siza Khoza had initially brought hope to the Matabeleland North team but their presence has since failed to ignite the spark to rejuvenate the club.

How Mine are under pressure to deliver with reports that Luke Masomere’s job is on the line following an erratic performance by his team that is believed to have been assembled at a huge cost and had been expected to be among those fighting for the crown but the Mettalon Gold sponsored side was 10 points behind log leaders Chicken Inn going into PSL Matchday 20.

Triangle United, who suffered a loss to Dynamos during the week, would be hoping to get their title charge back on track with a win over How Mine.
Although the Sugar Boys have been poor travellers, coach Kelvin Kaindu said winning their last two away games against ZPC Kariba and Tsholotsho had given them confidence they can start picking points away from home.

Kaindu said although How Mine was the first team to hand them defeat at home, he feels it is a different game today and they will employ their brand of attacking football and hope to come up with a positive result.

“I think our last two wins away have given us the confidence, we can pick points away from home and tomorrow (today) we can come up with a positive result,” said the former Highlanders gaffer.

A win will boost Triangle’s chances of winning the title as they lie second on the log and were five points adrift of log leaders, Chicken Inn coming into this weekend’s games.
