FORMER Highlanders and Warriors’ skipper, Thulani “Biya” Ncube, has backed Francis Ntuta in the race for the Zifa Bulawayo Province chairman’s post that is up for grabs during elections scheduled for the coming weekend.

Ncube said from the short period he has worked with Ntuta, he has proved to be an astute administrator and should be given a chance to run the province.

Ntuta was made acting chairman following the death of Washington Chimanda-Sithole in 2016.

“I know I am based here in the States but on occasions I have worked with Ntuta during the hosting of my tournament, things have gone smoothly unlike previously when things were not in order. He has shown astuteness and his passion for juniors is critical in the development of the game,” said Ncube from his base in the United States of America.

He said the most important thing stakeholders should do is to give Ntuta support once in office because lack of support often led to failure and it is a difficult job running football without the necessary assistance.

Ntuta will slug it out with provincial board member, Mkhululi Mthunzi and Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches’ Association secretary, Oscar Mazhambe for the post with elections slated for this weekend.

Ntuta said he believes he is ripe for the top job in the province and has been shown by his stint as acting chairperson for the past two years.
