SOUTH AFRICAN spinners were the toast of the day at the Bulawayo Motoring Club Spinning/Burnout and sound-off event held at Victoria Falls road circuit yesterday.
With 120 tyres to burn, the duo of Suresh from Max My Ride and Brian from Y & Sons intrigued and left the crowd clamouring for more.

Suresh who has been spinning for seven years consecutively did not disappoint as he kept the crowd entertained through fast reverse stunts, alongside co-driver Day Day who kept hanging his body out of the car performing high risk stunts.

Not to be outdone was Brian who after bursting his rear tyres would rev the car and give a dramatic performance of a “hand-drawn” car.

Suresh said the stunts he performed with his co-driver took a month to two months to perfect, hence the co-ordination that is not only meant to excite the crowd but also to keep them safe.

“Well it’s not easy but it’s the control of the car that matters and the type of stunt that one performs that determines the exercise and practice involved because we have to agree on doing something entertaining and safe as well,” he said.

Harare based spinner Isaac Mayor popularly known as Fat Cat who boast 20-years of experience in spinning said he felt indebted to the crowds for making it more exciting.

“It’s quite refreshing to know that people have accepted the sport which is rather entertainment related, it gives us encouragement that people have now adopted spinning”.

Bulawayo spinner Dazza said that the entertainment sport which involves the bursting of rear tyres has attracted interest among the locals who came out in droves to watch the spinning spectacle.

The sound off competition which featured 14 cars had three categories.

Husain Rahman in the 8” with a decibel of 126.5, Alex Honeyber won in the 10” category with a decibel of 129.2 and in the 12” Zane Shah won with a decibel of 141.3.

Other featured spinners were “Spin Kid” Shannon, Goofa and Hussein.
