MOTORING enthusiasts will be in for a treat when the Bulawayo Motoring Club hosts a spinning and Sound-Off event at the Victoria Falls Circuit on 25 October.
The event will also be a fund-raising initiative for the Molly Mayers fund, with a raffle and draws expected to be conducted.
Molly Mayers is a 30-year-old woman from Barham Green in the city who has eight percent use of one kidney, and the proceeds will assist her medication and also enable her to go for dialysis on a weekly basis.

Top South African drivers Suresh from Max My Ride and Brian from Y & Sons, will headline the spinning event and will be challenged by locals from Harare’s Spin City crew Isaac Mayor also known as Fat Cat, “Spin Kid” Shannon, and Goofa, as well as Dazza and Hussein, both from Bulawayo, among others.

The event is set to start at 1pm and as part of the entertainment of the day, BMC will also stage the last Sound Off competition of the year, which is open to anyone with a subwoofer in their car.

In a Sound Off, a range of bass tones are played through the car radio with the volume turned high.
The decibel reading is done in a closed car to determine the loudest sub-woofer and a test-meter is placed on the car windscreen, for thirty seconds music is played and the winner is determined by the highest reading shown by the meter.

BMC vice-chairman Zane Shah said the spinning event will be the greatest ever to be staged in Bulawayo as it would showcase two renowned South African drivers.

Shah said the occasion would be a family event not to be missed, and that some stalls would be available for food, toys, beadwork, sweets and mini motorised bikes and Zorb Balls, jumping castles and Dunk Tank for the kids.

“The spinners will be showcasing their skills, there is going to be a lot of smoke and burning rubber with this awesome group. From cars doing doughnuts to displays of drivers and co-drivers performing stunts in and out of moving BMWs, it will definitely be mind blowing and with two South Africans who will keep the crowd wooed,’’ said Shah.

“It will be a full day of family entertainment and entry at the gate is $5 and I guarantee you this will be the event of the year for the spinning demo in the country and not to be missed are the sky divers who will descend on the venue.”

When spinning the car is classically maneuvred until the rear tyres burst and all this is done while stuntmen perform high risk stunts while the vehicle is in motion.
