Booty enhancement: pros and cons

The Sunday News

I WAS in South Africa this past week covering and attending a couple of festivals, which some of our kinsmen were taking part in. While strolling the streets of Johannesburg’s Braamfontein, in the company of friends, I couldn’t help but notice the number of posters messily stuck up all over street lamps, bins and walls.

A couple of them caught my attention, but there was one that really stood out! On it I saw a suitable topic for this week’s column — booty enhancement, as this has rather become a serious contentious subject for women across the globe.

The desire to have big butts among women has led some women to use banned enhancement products, putting their lives at risk.

Pasted up on one of the walls of buildings we walked past were posters advertising booty and hip enhancement.

My jaws literally parted in laughter as the advert seriously looked bogus or rather phony and as cheap as the paper used to make the poster.

Anyway, the issue of butt “amplification” has become a growing trend in the world, with the US seemingly topping the list of countries with women who go above and beyond to have their posteriors enlarged.

Butt injections, butt creams, silicone butts . . . my word! Women really are daring and really would go to any length for beauty. Because many of these American stars, such as Amber Rose, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and Blac Chyna to name but a few are reported to have enhanced their bodies — their butts to be precise, many women admire them and wish to emulate them.

I really don’t know why butt augmentation has become such a popular culture in the world, whatever happened to women of all races being appreciative of their bodies.

I mean no disregard, neither am I being racial but you know how black women brag about their curvy bodies and how white women, too brag about their, I don’t know how better to describe their bodies but I will use the description — white bodies.

African women are naturally curvy and are celebrated across the globe for that. I do understand and appreciate that there are those that are not curvy and perhaps don’t get as much attention as their curvy counterparts, hence the desire to have obnoxiously big posteriors.

Because my curiosity by far surpasses that of a cat, I had to find out the procedure — I dialled the number on the poster.

The person on the other end of the line in response to my inquiry said: “We have special butt enhancement methods, with the best being injections and creams. Injections are faster and yield results faster than the cream. These are specially formulated to help you get a bigger, fuller butt, hips and thighs. The cream has natural ingredients from Indian herbs that have been proven to stimulate fat storage cells in the area focused on.”

I then asked if this was a permanent or temporary “swelling”.

“It’s not temporary but of course you will occasionally have to use the product to retain your butt.”

I asked if the cream worked on its own or had other supplements.

“There are supplementary pills to achieve faster results. The pills will trigger body cells to store more fat in the areas concerned. There are many women that have used this and are happy,” said the female voice at the other end of the line.

I just had to ask if it was legal before the person dropped the line. From butt lifts to butt augmentation, today’s cosmetic surgery buttock procedures are focused on achieving what might be called the ultimate butt but at a cost. Women your lives are at risk here, although I acknowledge that the ultimate butt these days may well be bigger, rounder, firmer, tighter or even more lifted.

While boosting the size or shape of the butt is not for everyone, it is one of the fastest growing and most in demand procedures because of the dramatic difference made. Butt injections are one of the many common cosmetic procedures women undergo to achieve what has been deemed in today’s society as beautiful. In my opinion its pervasion!

I will end it here for this week seeing as I am running out of space for the article.
