BOTSWANA will be for the second year running send their national Under-19 rugby team to the Power Sales Schools Rugby Festival at Hartsfield Ground on Friday and Saturday. Adolf Soweto, the tournament director confirmed the development saying the Batswana will take on Christian Brothers College and Prince Edward.

“Botswana are sending their Under-19, they will play against CBC and Prince Edward,’’ said Soweto.
Schools from outside Bulawayo who will be making the trip for the fiesta include Churchill, Plumtree, Allan Wilson and Watershed, while the city will provide traditional rugby playing schools such as Milton, Petra, Gifford as well as others from the western suburbs.

Soweto said everything was now in place for the start of the tournament, with the fixtures being finalised.
“We are just finalising on the fixtures at the moment. It is going to be a much competitive festival, the main game being CBC versus Churchill. We are giving a trophy to the girls, recognising what they did last year,’’ said Soweto.

The Power Sales School Rugby Festival held every year since 2006 has become a worthwhile preparatory event to the schools ahead of a gruelling second term.

Some of the players who have graced the event going on to represent the country at international level include Biselele Tshamala (Plumtree), Lloyd Machanjaira (Milton and CBC), Lucky Sithole and Adrian Sibanda (CBC).
