A ZVISHAVANE couple was recently left stunned after their 12-year-old son hired a sex worker for a short time sex session but failed to pay the $5 fee he was charged, leading to the lady of the night confiscating his mobile phone. The boy, whose identity cannot be revealed, and is a Grade 7 pupil at a primary school in the Midlands town, reported the sex worker to police for theft after his efforts to recover the cellphone proved futile.

This led to Tadiwanashe Pfekeche (22), the sex worker, being dragged before Zvishavane magistrate Mr Tavengwa Sangster to answer charges of having sex with a minor.

She was, however, acquitted of the charge.

The boy’s parents could not hide their shock and apparent humiliation last week when they witnessed Pfekeche’s trial in which their son was the complainant.

It was the State’s case as presented by Mr Stanley Ncube that on an unknown date in May this year, the juvenile approached Pfekeche, who was outside Funchal Night Club, and inquired how much she charged for a “short time” sex session.

Pfekeche charged him $5, the court was told, and the two went inside the nightclub to have a few beers before they proceeded to Pfekeche’s place for the sex session.

The boy’s shenanigans only came to light when the juvenile got home the next morning and his parents noticed that he did not have his mobile phone. They demanded to know where the mobile phone was.

Pressed by his parents’ quizzing and demands to see the mobile phone, the boy rushed to Pfekeche’s house and tried in vain to recover his cellphone, but Pfekeche would not yield as she insisted on having her $5 first before she could release the phone.

The boy resorted to reporting the matter to Zvishavane police who called in Pfekeche and interviewed her on what had transpired.

Police also invited the boy’s parents who, enraged by what had happened, immediately reported Pfekeche for having sex with a juvenile, resulting in the lady of the night being dragged before the courts.

Pfekeche pleaded not guilty to the offence, arguing that she assumed that her “client” was above the age of consent since they had met at a nightclub where patrons are expected to be adults.

“I was outside Funchal Night Club when he (the boy) approached me and asked how much I charged for short time. I charged him $5 and we took a taxi to my house where we had sex.

“After we had sex he (the juvenile) told me that he had no money and could not pay for my services. That is when I decided to take his mobile phone,” said Pfekeche.

Mr Sangster acquitted Pfekeche of the charge of having sex with a minor after considering her defence that she could not have told that her client was under age as the two had met at a nightclub where patrons are supposed to be above the age of 18.
