HAVING the perfect hairdo used to be a fuss among women, well, we introduce to you the new obsession: NAILS! Not having a manicure and/or pedicure has become taboo, from the teenagers to the grannies, nail game seems to be pretty strong. Different colours, shapes, some so long they resemble claws, it all depends on how you want them and the occasion.

Those in the nail business seem to be every woman’s go to girl, even though the industry is doing well it has room for growth. One lady who has been killing it in Bulawayo is Jane Chieza. An entrepreneur and nail technician for the past six years, practice surely does make perfect and she is living proof. After studying at beauty school she opened a nail lounge (Jane’s nail lounge) in Bulawayo.

With over a 100 clients coming through for manis and pedis on a weekly basis, she loves making ladies look their best and her work speaks for itself.

Stick- ons, French tips, glass tips, gel nails, you name them; the sister does it all! Getting her inspiration from established nail technicians such as Young nails and Morgan Taylor, Jane keeps researching and learning new trends in order to deliver the best for her clients.

What sets her apart? Jane’s Nail Lounge prices are affordable, for example most nail technicians charge $15 for natural tips, and at Jane’s it is $10. To some $5 may not make much of a difference but to most it’s worth a save. As affordable as her prices are, the work she does is incredible and it lasts long. Nothing as annoying as nails that fall off, either you move around with that one awkward finger which has a broken nail or repair it or remove the whole bunch of them.

If you wonder how this is related to fashion; let me explain. Nail art is FASHION! Men don’t get why the nails have to be that long, or sharp or bright and colourful and that’s fine. It’s not to be understood. Nails do say a lot about a person’s sense of fashion and character. Short, neat French manicure is always for the reserved girl who wants to look pretty but not attract attention. Stiletto shaped nails, bright, bold with rhinestones will always be a girl who is out there, not afraid to do or say anything, an extrovert. Round shape, in chilled colours such as nudes and pastels; chilled and classy typa girl.

Nails are necessary to match your outfit, handbag, shoes and even hair colour. If it’s not matching complement. Most women are insecure about their toes and fingers, so what better way to get over the insecurity than nail art.

The industry is growing and it will get better. Be inspired by Jane who started 6 years ago with no clients, just pushing her passion. Having to access nail products at a low price in order to make clients happy with affordable prices and still make a profit sounds impossible but she does it. Jane aspires to learn how to make nail polish and have a nail polish line in future.

For those in Bulawayo you can pay a visit at her nail lounge, and the Gweru girls are in luck as on some weekends Jane works from MSU. Do contact her on 0775 660 653 for bookings.
