BULAWAYO Public Transporters Association (Bupta) chairman Mr Strike Ndlovu has died. Mr Ndovu (71) died last Wednesday at his house due to heart failure. He was buried at West Park Cemetery in Bulawayo yesterday. Mr Ndlovu is survived by his wife, Eve Ndlovu and daughter. Family spokesperson Mr Stanley Mthombeni said Mr Ndlovu’s death was sudden as he was not ill. He said he collapsed when he was watering vegetables at home.

“This is a shock to all family members because it is a sudden death. He was not sick at all. He collapsed on Wednesday evening around 5pm when he was watering vegetables in the garden with his wife. His wife tried by all means to resuscitate him but to no avail. His younger brother who is a doctor Dr Antony Mthombeni confirmed his death on Wednesday evening,” he said.

Mr Mthombeni said the death of Mr Ndlovu was a great loss to the family as he was the pillar of the family and contributed a lot during family gatherings.

“Mr Ndlovu was an educationist/businessman, successful teacher, book salesman and also worked at Solarcom then became the chairman of Bupta. When he died he was now the life president of Bupta. He also worked with community members and the police to bring sanity to transport,” he said.

One of the family members, Mr Gibson Sikhosana paid gratitude to all the transport associations which came to help them at the funeral.

“I would like to thank all the transport associations for helping us especially Bupta because they provided 25 vehicles for the funeral. I would also like to thank churches, community members and burial societies that came to help us. I would also like to apologise to others who did not hear the message about the burial.

“We were supposed to bury Mr Ndlovu on Sunday but we changed and moved it to Saturday due to other circumstances. “On behalf of all family members, may Ndlovu’s soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
