A REDCLIFF-BASED cement manufacturer, Livetouch Investments says its plant with a capacity of producing 410 000 tonnes of cement every year is poised to be a major player in the cement production in the country.
The company which commenced operations in March, has already brought smiles on the faces of many in the small town as it has so far employed more than 200 workers. The company has brought life into the small town which was degenerating into a ghost town following the near demise of Ziscosteel.
Livetouch chief executive officer Mr Dongning Wang in an interview said his company, which set the Redcliff plant at a cost $34 million, has one of the biggest ball mills in the country.
“We started operating in March and has the capacity of producing 410 000 tonnes of cement per year. We produce 22,5 masonry and 32,5 Portland cement,” he said.
Mr Dongning said it was the company’s vision to maximise shareholder value by ensuring that the cement plant is up and running to full capacity by end of year. He also said, although the country was experiencing economic challenges, the company was aiming at providing quality cement produced at the state of the art equipped company.
The company is expected to give stiff competition to other cement producers and before it reached full capacity, it is already touted as the fourth largest cement producer in the country. The other cement companies operating in Zimbabwe are PPC Zimbabwe, Sino Zimbabwe, Larfarge and Pacstar Cement and Concrete.
