TODAY five matches are lined up in the Chibuku Super Cup first round and Sunday Life speaks to some of the chairpersons of the 10 sides playing today for their predictions.

Dynamos v Bulawayo City (Rufaro)

Kenny Mubaiwa — Dynamos Chairman — We suffered a loss when Caps United beat us last weekend, but I hope that has not knocked the wind out of our sails. Losing to Caps was a moral sapper, but I know my boys have the strength to come back and take something out of today’s game against Bulawayo City. They are very difficult to predict, but our game plan is to take them seriously and put them to the sword straight from kick-off. Our opponents are by no means a small team so as far as we are concerned it will be a very difficult match for both teams. Score line we will win 2-0.

Jerry Sibanda — Bulawayo City Chairman — We’ve had a decent run-in ahead of the first round. In the last three matches we are undefeated, picking up five points out of a possible nine. Our draw away to Black Rhinos proves that we have the pedigree to come back into matches after going behind.

Against Dynamos we will try and play football and not worry about the stature of our opponents. Dynamos are a big club but are also like everyone else — they play football and so do we. I am sure that our coach, Mandla Mpofu and his players will be more than a match for Dynamos. We will win it 2-1.
Ngezi Platinum v Caps United (Baobab)

Jeremiah Gasiteni — Ngezi Platinum Chairman — Our reputation is one of good football. We have the right pedigree in the team to see us through the first round. We respect that Caps are the defending league champions and gained quite a bit of experience when they played in Africa just like we did, but when they walk onto the field at Baobab they must expect positive football which will result in a positive result for us. I am not very good with predicting score lines, but I am positive of victory.

How Mine v Bantu Rovers (Ascot)

Paul McAndrews — How Mine Chairman — We have very little to play for this season and we see the Chibuku Super Cup as the only realistic honour for us to play for.

We are out of the championship race but we are confident of going all the way in the Super Cup. We are playing Bantu who until they beat Tsholotsho last weekend had become whipping boys. Despite their unexpected form, I am still confident that we will beat them. Result 2-1 in our favour.

Wilbert Sibanda — Bantu Rovers Executive Chairman — We are happy that we managed to get past Tsholotsho in the preliminary round. We are happier that our boys were able to score three goals against a very tactical side and then hold on despite being under pressure for long periods.

This experience will play a huge part when we take on How Mine and I am confident the youngsters will pull off another big win.

Its difficult to predict the score line especially in a derby. How Mine have a good squad but we have also been preparing well for this tie. We want a win but I can’t predict the score line. A win is a win.

Highlanders v Harare City (Mandava)

Modern Ngwenya —Highlanders Acting Chairman — I urge every Highlanders fan to travel the 200km to Mandava and get behind their team. I know we have some poor results of late but after the Chapungu match, things have been on the up.

I am positive that we will come back to Bulawayo with a victory tomorrow. I have a lot of respect for Harare City, but we have been playing really well of late and I don’t see us losing in the first round. Although we are not playing at our Barbourfields fortress, Mandava has a very good pitch that favours our style of play. I’m not sure about the score line, but a victory is definitely in the offing.
