THE annual Chibuku Neshamwari/Labangane Traditional dance competition is calling for registrations for the 2016 dance competition which is going to be held at Esigodini Habane beer garden on 11 June.

The traditional dance competition will witness ten groups battling for the top spot to represent Bulawayo on the finals which are going to be held on 30 July at the White City Stadium.

For the registration procedure which is now on process, interested traditional dance group should send their full name of group, types of dances to be performed, how many female and male participants per group, name of group leader and contact number, to 00263 733 036 005/ +263 777 955 528.

Organiser of the dance competition Trust Gumbo said that the event was getting better and even bigger every year.

“The standards have improved annually and the audience grows every year with new talent and traditional dance groups imaging every year so l believe things are working out well as we look forward to another thrilling and exciting event when we celebrate our indigenous dances all possible through Chibuku and ZNTDA Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association,” said Gumbo.

Previous winners of the competition on the top spot there was Bulawayo dance group Ezimnyama arts, followed by Imvimbi and on third position it was Iluba lemvelo traditional dance group.

Founded in 1963, Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional dance festival is one of the longest running arts sponsorship programmes in the country, and has been on the fore front of keeping practice and art of traditional dance alive in Zimbabwe.

Chibuku Neshamwari Dance Festival is a tripartite partnership between sponsors, Delta beverages, the national Arts Council and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association.
