MARKET watchers have said the bold stand by Chinese and Russian companies to invest in Zimbabwe is likely to push other investors to take an interest in local companies especially those listed whose stake is always available for a take.Zimbabwe and China have signed a number of agreements which will see major investments across many sectors of the economy while Russian companies will be involved in a $3 billion platinum project in Darwendale.
Meanwhile, on Friday the industrial index went down by 0.31 points (0,16 percent) to close at 195.35 points in thin trading.
Larfarge shed 20 cents to close at 50 cents and TSL (TSL.zw) slipped a cent to 26 cents. Afdis and DZLH traded 0.50 cents lower each to close at 33.50 cents and 11.50 cents respectively. CFI eased 0.20 cents to close at 2.80 cents.
The losses were partially offset by gains in Hippo which added a cent to close at 70 cents. Other movers included Fidelity Life and NMB which were up 0.50 cents each to close at 9.50 cents and 4.50 cents respectively. ZPI advanced by 0.20 cents to settle at 1.20 cents.
Week on week the industrial index lost 4.50 points (2,25 percent).
The mining index added 0.09 points (0,10 percent) to close at 92.85 points after Bindura was up by a marginal 0.01 cents to trade at 8.01 cents. Falgold, Hwange and RioZim were unchanged at 4 cents, 8 cents and 20 cents in that order.
The mining index lost 10.60 points (10,25 percent) compared to week ending 12 September 2014.
