Zimbabwe 171-4 37 overs (Raza 58*, Burl 30*, Ervine 30, Sole 3/36) beat Scotland 169 all out 42 overs (Coetzer 61, MacLeod 58, Cremer 5/29, Raza 2/35)

SKIPPER Graeme Cremer and Sikandar Raza put a sterling show to steer Zimbabwe to a resounding six wicket victory over Scotland in the second One Day International match at Grange Cricket Club Ground in Edinburg yesterday for the two match series to conclude in a draw.

Leg spinner Cremer picked five wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs, one of those overs not costing a run while off break bowler Raza took two for 35 from the same number of overs with two maidens as Zimbabwe bowled out Scotland for 169 in 42 overs.

Opener Kyle Coetzer was the highest run scorer for the home team with 61 runs, followed by Calum Macleod on 58 after the Scots won the toss and opted to bat.

Raza was the highest run contributor for Zimbabwe with an unbeaten 58 runs coming in to bat at number five, putting on 72 runs for an unbroken fifth wicket partnership with Ryan Burl who chipped in with an unbeaten 30 runs.

In their run chase, Zimbabwe lost the wickets of Solomon Mire, Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine and Sean Williams. There was however nothing stopping them from cruising to victory with 78 balls to spare.

Yesterday’s victory ensured that the Heath Streak Zimbabwean lads made amends for their 26 run defeat through the Duckworth/Lewis method in the first ODI last Thursday in a rain affected match.

From Scotland, Zimbabwe now proceed to Netherlands to play the Dutch in three 50 over matches on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. After that, a tour of Sri Lanka awaits Zimbabwe where they will take on the Asians in three ODIs and one Test. The tour of Sri Lanka starts at the end of this month to early July.
