DYNAMOS Bulawayo Metropolitan Supporters Association brought some cheer to the elderly at Entembeni People’s Home when they donated foodstuffs as well as clothing yesterday.

Fungai Gachata, the chapter chairman handed over the donation to Jesca Matavire, the sister in charge at the institution.

Entembeni Old People’s Home chairman Martin Chingombe was also in attendance.

Gachata said it was their way of showing that they care about the elderly people as much as they care about Dynamos.

“We came to this place with the aim to see what we can do for the people here besides supporting Dynamos. This is our way of showing the elderly that their children and grand children care about them,’’ Gachata said.
Matavire expressed her appreciation to the DeMbare supporters since the institution accommodates residents for free. A total 35 old people live at Entembeni, these being 28 males and seven females.

“We are grateful for the donation, since Dynamos supporters have come here, things will change, it has started,’’ she said.

Dynamos national supporters association vice-chairman Walter Taranhike said they felt that they also have a social responsibility. He promised to approach supporters from other clubs like Highlanders and Caps United to carry out such initiatives.

“If we had combined with supporters from other clubs we could have brought even a bigger parcel. My wish is that supporters of others clubs when they hear that we are doing such things, they should also come in to assist so that we do a similar thing,’’ Taranhike said.

After the donation, the Dynamos fans spent the whole afternoon mixing and mingling with the old-timers. They toured the old people’s home to get an understanding of the needs of the elderly, planted vegetables, cleaned the home and had a braai with the elderly.
