During a season in which their team performed dismally and agonisingly fell to bitter rivals Highlanders, Harare giants Dynamos’ supporters still believe their team has the urge to finish at a respectable position this season.

In an interview with Sunday News, Dynamos Supporters Association (Kwekwe Chapter) chairperson, Solomon Mutsinze said despite the lack of depth in the glamorous Glamour Boys, the team is still capable of rising from their deep slumber and avoid the dreaded premiership chop. His sentiments come as the association’s Kwekwe Chapter is today (Sunday) expected to converge at a Redcliff hide-out for a meeting meant to drum up support for the team’s remaining matches this season.

“This has been one of our worst seasons and currently the morale is at an all-time low but we are definitely not going to be relegated. Dynamos is a big institution and we are not thinking about relegation. Relegation is impossible for a great institution like ours,” Mutsinze said.

He also said there is need for the team players to “respect the blue and white jersey” which is synonymous with the Mbare-based side. Mutsinze said today’s meeting is meant to drum up support for the team despite their lifeless displays in matches played this season.

“As the supporters, we are there to uplift the spirits of the team and we are converging in Redcliff this Sunday where we are going to meet supporters from Zhombe, Redcliff, Silobela and Kwekwe.

This is a critical moment where the team needs our support to start collecting points and avoid embarrassment at the end of the season. We also feel the coach, his assistants and the players are duty-bound to respect the Dynamos jersey. Winning is our culture and that culture has to be preserved by everyone, including the players and their coaches,” he said.

Since the departure of former Warriors gaffer, Kallisto Pasuwa a couple of years ago, Dynamos have seen the premiership eluding them and the side has been facing a multiplicity of challenges which have reduced the then glitzy side to an average footballing team.
