CHAMPIONS Dynamos are already looking menacing having picked up their second victory in as many matches at the expense of a battling Chapungu at Ascot Stadium in Gweru yesterday. Ronald Chitiyo got the all important goal at a venue DeMbare have struggled to win at in recent years. The victory saw Dynamos maintain their perfect start to the season with the Glamour Boys having opened their 2015 campaign with a 3-0 win over Buffaloes at the National Sports Stadium last Saturday.

David “Yogi” Mandigora’s men have scored five and conceded none in their opening two matches and those who know the manner they go about business will tell you that Dynamos’ success is always anchored on a solid defence.

Yesterday the champions were missing skipper Augustine Mbara who returned from his trials from Bidvest Wits in South Africa late but there was little to show that the captain was missing.

Elisha Muroiwa slotted at the heart of defence to partner the rejuvenated Sydney “Sydo” Linyama while Ocean Mushure and Godknows Murwira completed the cast of men tasked with providing cover to Artwell Mukandi. With Oscar Machapa and Qadr Amini slotting on the wings Dynamos had six defenders on the park and the hosts despite the industry of veteran Phillip Marufu struggled to penetrate the champions.

After a cagey opening DeMbare opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Chitiyo sweetly headed Ocean Mushure’s corner kick beyond the reach of Talbert Shumba in goals for the home side.

At Rufaro Stadium, Martin Vengesayi’s first half brace ensured victory for Harare City. The Sunshine Boys dismissed a disjointed Chicken Inn 2-0 to ease pressure on coach Taurai Mangwiro who lost the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season opener to new boys Tsholotsho FC. Vengesayi opened his account after only nine minutes when he outpaced Chicken Inn central defenders Moses Jackson and Lawrence before slotting the ball past a diving Elvis Chipezeze.

He completed his brace just before the half time whistle, turning his marker before firing home.
Chicken Inn, who only had two shots on target, were reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute when second half substitute David Temwanjira was sent off following a second bookable offence.

Meanwhile, visitors Whawha cursed their luck after picking just a point against fellow prison wardens Flame Lilly at Gwanzura.
Whawha’s Livingstone Genti scored a brilliant goal in the 54th minute to cancel out a first half opener by Motion Muponda.
