ZANU-PF will not hesitate to chuck out divisive members from its ranks who are wayward and are fanning factionalism, a senior official has said.
Addressing members of the party at a Matabeleland South Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting in Gwanda yesterday, the party’s Secretary for National Security Cde Kembo Mohadi said in fact, Zanu-PF members, especially those from the province, must take a leaf from the late Vice-President, Dr Joshua Nkomo who always preached the gospel of peace and unity.
“As the province we should remain united. The song of unity and peace came from this province and the preacher was none other than the late Father Zimbabwe Dr Joshua Nkomo. We should all take a leaf from what we were taught and sing from the same hymn book. I urge you to walk unity, peace and stop associating yourself with divisive elements,” said Cde Mohadi who is also the Minister of State Security.
“It has been difficult of late to talk of unity in the party because there are some elements that have been sowing seeds of division. Such kind of behaviour or practise should never find its way into this province. We know where we belong and what Dr Nkomo said to us. He left us in this unity and we should not betray that cause. Some of you swayed to follow other elements in the past. Don’t be misled, you belong to Zanu-PF not an individual and you belong to this party because of its ideologies not because of an individual.”
Cde Mohadi, who is also a senior party member in the province, said people should appreciate each other’s differences, as in every society there are differences. He, however, said the differences should help to take the party forward rather being destructive.
The provincial chairman, Cde Rabelani Choeni, said the party was working hard to maintain its dominance in the province. In attendance were Cdes Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu, Abdenico Ncube who is the Minister of Rural Development, Preservation of Culture and Heritage and Members of Parliament — Cdes Andrew Langa (Insiza North), Malaki Nkomo (Insiza South), Never Khanye (Matobo North), William Dewa (Umzingwane) and the party’s national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo .
