DUBAI-BASED Zimbabwean music promoters have always had their events clashing and subsequently losing out on potential revenue. This time around the promoters have decided to unite for one event that will be held on an annual basis.

In order to attract a huge audience the promoters have set aside their differences and came up with an event which was recently launched and dubbed “Kalaring DXB 18” which will take place next month in Dubai. The event will be running under one umbrella name Power House Dubai.

Speaking to Sunday Life, Power House Dubai spokesperson Fanwell Masunungure said five entertainment groups have joined hands to bring the best entertainment for the Zimbabwean community in Dubai. The groups include Matrix Entertainment, Todawo Entertainment, Blazedem Family, Booskiri and Cheese and Whiskers.

“It has been a dog eat dog situation for us in Dubai as people would choose to go to a show because it’s a Matrix Entertainment or Booskiri therefore dividing the already limited crowds hence the decision to come together as Power House DXB so that everyone will attend whatever show we are promoting regardless of which one us is promoting it as individuals,” Masunungure said.

“Our main goal is to bring the best of entertainment to Zimbabweans in the UAE and also to bring promoters in the UAE together.”

Masunungure said this will not be the first time they are bringing Zimbabwean artistes to perform for the Zimbabwean community based in Dubai as in recent years they have brought Ammara Brown, Rocky, Stunner and Winky D. For the mega-show, Power House has invited Seh Calaz and DJ Yugoe to grace the event.

“We are excited to be bringing for the first time Seh Calaz and DJ Yugoe from Plumtree town to the UAE. We believe that he is the catalyst that’s going to bring everyone together as it is the first time we are bringing a DJ from Matabeleland. We hope it’s going to be a great show and thanks to his manager Handsome Sibanda,” he said.

The artistes will be teaming up with the UAE’s best and finest DJs, Jez de Don, DJ Zvese Zvese, DJ Pato and DJ Fanta Fire.

Masunungure acknowledged that the presence of Zimbabwean artistes in Dubai has taken their music to the world.

“Bringing artistes from home to perform in Dubai has been fruitful as people from Kenya, Uganda, British communities come to Dubai for our shows and they appreciate our music and locally in Dubai we have seen some young Zimbabweans like Tawanda Mugodhi recording his video, Tocky Vibes did his video here as well,” he said.

“Zimbabwean artistes now know that with hard work Dubai is just a flight away. Back in Zimbabwe we have attracted Zimbabwean promoters like Bodyslam to bring artistes here for gigs, Soul Jah Love and Killer T which were brought by them,” he said.

The response that the Power House has been getting on social media platforms has been astonishing and they are hoping for the best result out of the event.

“People work very hard here and are home sick so bringing artistes from home has been well received and the support is huge. I assure that Kalaring DXB 18 is going to be even more fun as the response from social media is overwhelming,” Masunungure said.-@kayskudzai
