ECONET Wireless Zimbabwe has launched a youth empowerment programme aimed at equipping youths with skills needed to start their own businesses.

Econet Wireless executive assistant to group chief executive officer, Mr Lovemore Nyatsine said the programme named Elevate, is targeting the company’s subscribers aged 16 to 34.

He said the programme has four pillars, namely, Rise n Shine, Learn n Glow, Mix n Match and Spin n Shuffle.

“The Rise n Shine pillar offers the youths opportunities to become their own bosses by helping young entrepreneurs to receive funding for their business ideas,” said Mr Nyatsine.

“Econet does not fund the entrepreneurs. The co-business of the ‘Rise n Shine’ is to facilitate platforms where youths can get funding through entrepreneurship summits, boot camps and mentorship by captains of industry.”

He said this was also aimed at reducing the unemployment rate by empowering youths to start their own businesses.
Mr Nyatsine also said the Learn n Grow pillar will provide opportunities for youth career guidance and mentorship through boot camps and related interventions.

He said the Mix n Match will enable youths to control of their communication needs by customising their Voice, SMS and Data usage plans. It allows people to stay connected based on their terms and preferences.

“The Spin n Shuffle pillar creates a platform for young artistes, musicians, dancers, vocalists, producers and comedians to take their talents to the next level.

The Learn n Grow is an interactive imitative which brings together mentors and youths. It enables youths to unleash their full potential within their desired area of expertise.”
