A LOCAL events promoter-cum-DJ will next Saturday host a family fun day, paint and glow party event meant to bring the appreciation of local artistes in Bulawayo.

For a long time now, Bulawayo artistes both established and upcoming have mentioned that they lack local appreciation from the city, which has ultimately rendered the industry redundant.

The event will be held at the Bulawayo Athletic Club grounds.

In an interview, Mduduzi Sibanda who runs Cube Studios said the event would ultimately bring artistes and fans together.

“There will be no international acts, nor those from other cities. This will solely be a Bulawayo affair. The idea behind this event is to interlink our artistes and fans. The event is a platform aimed at promoting Bulawayo artistes,” he said.

Mdu, as he is popularly known, said there would also be a fireworks display, with several talent acts.

“All relevant authorities in letting us host this event have been approached and we have been given the green light. It is now up to the public to come and support their artistes,” he said.

Mdu noted that the event was launched last year but failed to attract the attention of the public as they were novices in the industry.

“To be honest we launched this thing last year but we failed to raise the attention of the people because of poor planning.

However, this year we have gone through all channels to advertise this event and we hope to see it grow bigger with time,” said Mdu.

He said artistes such as Mzoe 7, up and coming artistes such as Young Kid, M5 Collabo and Chets to mention a few were names to look out for at the event.

“There are a whole brood of artistes and I don’t necessarily want to pre-empty the programme,” said Mdu.

He added that tickets were already available.

“This is a fun day; there will be various activities for family. There are jumping castles, barbecues, various beverages, fire jugglers and many other activities to keep people entertained,” added Mdu.
