FC PLATINUM are so positive of victory against Harare City in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup this afternoon such that they are already preparing to participate in the African Confederations Cup.While acknowledging coach Norman Mapeza’s impressive performance since he took over the reigns of head coach from Lloyd Mutasa, FC Platinum chairman, Dumisani Sisale, was yesterday already informing the nation that they were ready to roll in Africa.

“We are consulting on the Confederation Cup as we are sure that we will win the Chibuku Cup which gives us the opportunity to participate in Africa representing Zimbabwe. So far we are very proud with what he (Mapeza) has done to the team. He has achieved a lot winning the ZNA Charities and tomorrow (today) we might lift another one,” said Sisale.

“We are also in the Mbada cup semi-finals and with just one game to go we are going to finish the season in the top four.”

FC Platinum is not new to Africa having taken the premiership by storm in 2012 when they represented Zimbabwe in the Champions League.

During that year the Nathan Shoko led executive had done so well and had appointed coach Rahman Gumbo who lost the league to Dynamos on goal aggregate.

The miners, however, crashed out of the African Champions League in the first round on a 3-0 defeat away to El-Merreikh of Sudan. They were held 2-2 in the reverse leg at Rufaro before bowing out 5-2 on aggregate.

Today’s match will not be televised live as Super Sport is covering the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Fans will pay $1 for the cheapest ticket.

It will also be the third cup final to be held in the mineral rich mining hub of Midlands.

With one game left FC Platinum are fighting to finish on third position if Caps United fail to beat ZPC Kariba.

True, to FC Platinum chairman’s words since taking over from Mutasa, Mapeza has only lost one match at Mandava at the hands of Highlanders. During that time Bosso were under the guidance of Kelvin Kaindu who was later shown the exit door.

“We are focused on the match tomorrow (today) and we definitely want a win. We are not afraid of Harare City but we respect them as a team with very good players and a very good coach and I will not say a lot about them. We are doing very well as a team and we are working very hard. We are all committed and our coach is much focused. He needs hard working players who at the end of the day delivers,” said FC Platinum midfielder Thabani Kamusoko.
