FORMER Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) Zimbabwe leader Mr Patrick Boanerge has established his own ministry — Flag Carrier Assembly, following his resignation from the church about a month ago.
The church will be officially launched in the next few weeks, where he intends to hold a Christian oriented seminar. Mr Patrick Boanerge resigned from ECG church founded by popular prophet Shepherd Bushiri, warmly known as Major 1, amid reports of a power struggle. Mr Boanerge however, denied the reports, saying he resigned from the church to pursue a different spiritual calling.
“I have a different spiritual calling and I would like to note that I served diligently at ECG as a head pastor. I had to resign to follow what God told me in a vision, which I received in 2006. God said I am sending you to the world to be the repairer and re-builder of broken hedges.
“When I joined ECG in 2011, in Malawi as a resident pastor God told me that I shall build a church with the capacity of holding 10 000 people. And that vision is in motion and is coming to fruition. My vision is to build a church of that capacity here in Bulawayo. This vision has been reoccurring to me since 2006.
“The time is ripe and after serving under a great man of God I want to raise sons and daughters to take to the Kingdom of God. The primary and main focus is to preach a word of God by my virtue of calling,” said Mr Boanerge.
He said that he would be now given the title of apostle and not pastor.
Mr Boanerge’s spokesperson, Mr Sylvester Machingura said Mr Boanerge had partnered other clergyman to establish a church.
“It is no secret and I will not keep people in suspense but like I said this is a higher calling and we are moving in another dimension. We will be launching a church soon and we have already secured a place to congregate, all other logistics have been catered for and we just await a date to open. Our message is simple Restoration, Restoration, and Restoration. The vision we have as Flag Carrier Assembly is to build, mend and restore the broken body of Christ,” said Mr Machingura.
He said Mr Boanerge is not in any competition with anyone because the body of Christ cannot be commercialised, as what people think.
