RISING Bulawayo songstress Linda Nyauchi, warmly known as Lee McHoney is rebranding herself as an artiste, as she seeks to carve a niche in the mainstream music sector.

Her rebranding, includes changing her name from Lee McHoney to just Lee, while she also ventures into other musical genres. Her rebranding comes soon after the launch of her debut album Wakandinyepera, launched about two months ago.

She said she wasn’t abandoning her genre but was looking to diversify herself as an artiste.

“I am not abandoning my genre but I am only looking to diversify myself. I will also be taking up poetry as well,” she said. Lee said she was also working on releasing a new project, a song titled help me understand.

“Following the #MenareTrash movement I decided to work on a track called Help me Understand, which is dedicated to all.

The track doesn’t promote or is against men but is just asking why they act the way they do to women,” said Lee. The track was locally produced, with a video for the track is on the cards. She said she would be releasing the track after the Bulawayo Arts Awards.

She said since she came up as an artiste she had been receiving quite a number of requests to perform.

“Recently I have been invited to perform at the Blankets and Wine event in Victoria Falls,” said Lee.

She broke into the local music scene late last year and is already a voice worth reckoning in the music industry.

Not only does she possess a godly voice but the looks too.

Lee said her music is greatly influenced by the likes of America’s Jhene Aiko, Zimbabwe’s Ammara Brown and the late Chiwoniso Maraire.

Her debut project consists of 6 tracks and was locally produced.
