EVERYONE has a dream of travelling all over the country and the world just to see and experience  how some people live in those different places. Not everyone has the ability to do so but I will let you in on a little secret. If you have always wanted that Asian, Chinese feel then start packing and head to Golden Peacock Villa in Mutare.

Golden Peacock is an international brand with its origins set in Asia. The hotel is located near Mutare Teachers’ College and it is built on a 7438-square metre plot allocated to Anjin Investments diamond mining by the city of Mutare. The Golden Peacock Villa Hotel is a three-star luxury establishment with 83 all en-suite rooms capable of accommodating 135 guests. The rooms include 55 standard, 17 deluxe rooms, and eight junior and three senior executive suites.

A colleague of mine, Roberta Katunga, spent the whole week there for some business and came back bragging of her experience there and so I thought it would be nice to let everyone know of the beautiful place that she visited. The first thing she talked about was the road from Harare to Mutare.

“The road from Harare was smooth sailing. No potholes or even cracks on the tar, I just couldn’t resist closing my eyes and enjoying the trip,” she said.

Upon arrival at Golden Peacock, the staff was very good to them and they were shown their rooms. She then unpacked and peeped outside the window just to see the outside view of the villa and she was breath- taken by the lovely nature that surrounded the place.

“The hotel is nestled between mountains, creating a sense of being in a valley. When you gaze out the royal mountains are jut to die for, serene and peaceful,” she said.

From what she said I figured that the place would be perfect for a romantic getaway for two. The cool breeze coming from the mountainous area is just ideal for you to take the love of your life.

The hotel has one main restaurant with indoor seating for up to 120 diners, and they also have three other private dining rooms. The hotel offers Oriental, Western and local a la carte cuisine in the restaurant and outdoor dining at the pool. Buffet lunch and dinner is also served in the restaurant when they are full.

The hotel’s conference centre offers fully inclusive packages suited for banqueting, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, company functions, cocktails, parties, weddings, with facilities accommodating up to 180 delegates in various seating styles, and outdoor sitting of up to 300 people.
