MAKOKOBA Member of Parliament, Mr Gorden Moyo, has officially dumped the Tsvangirai-led MDC and joined the MDC Renewal Team, saying his former boss, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai, has lost the political touch to lead the party.Mr Moyo, the former MDC-T provincial chairman for Bulawayo is now the party’s head of diaspora and international relations committee, finally ending the speculation on which faction he belonged to when he addressed party supporters during the Renewal Team’s restructuring meeting in Bulawayo on Friday.

Mr Moyo said Mr Tsvangirai had run out of ideas and should now pave way for new blood to take over the party.

“This country will never be written without a chapter of Morgan Tsvangirai. He worked for this country. He tried to shake Mugabe (President) and Zanu-PF but we have arrived where he can’t continue,” said Mr Moyo.

“We now need new ideas, new brains and new pairs of feet. We don’t need only renewal of the leadership but renewal of the economy.”

Mr Moyo said they were disappointed that they did not win last year’s elections.

“In the Renewal Team we acknowledge that this country was brought through the liberation struggle and people died for it but we need new people to lead it,” said Mr Moyo.

He said the party was committed to working with everyone who shared their views.

“As a party we are committed to work with all the political parties without the big brother mentality,” said Mr Moyo.

Former Bulawayo Mayor Mr Thaba Moyo and former MDC provincial spokesperson Mr Edwin Ndlovu are among those who have ditched the beleaguered Tsvangirai led MDC-T to join the Renewal Team.

Mr Thaba Moyo is now the party’s national working council member while Mr Ndlovu, who shocked everyone when he was seen donning the renewal regalia barely a few months after he resigned from the MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube to join the MDC-T is Bulawayo province vice-chairperson.

Some of the MDC Renewal Team people who attended the meeting were the interim national chairperson of the faction, Mr Samuel Sipepa Nkomo and his wife Roselyn, group secretary for social welfare Ms Lucia Matibenga, Ms Evelyn Masaiti and Bulawayo Province chairman Mr Kucaca Phulu.

Ms Matibenga said the MDC-T  party was now mired in violence under the leadership of Mr Tsvangirai.

She described Mr Tsvangirai as a “Gumbura” who was not fit to lead the party in reference to his sexual escapades.
