THE annual Green Gardens Wedding Expo is seeking to partner with new players in the industry, as it gears up for the fourth edition set to be held before the end of the month.

The expo, which is held in a collaborative effort between Green Gardens Nursery, Nqo Video Productions and Vibration Designs, will run from 20 to 21 February this year.

Christened Bulawayo’s Outstanding Entrepreneur, second runner-up at the Megafest Business Awards in 2015, Nqobile Mpofu who runs Nqo Video productions told Sunday Life that they sought to engage new players in a bid to nurture the industry in Bulawayo.

“The expo has somewhat become a much of a cliché, with the usual limousines, vintage cars and other services alike.

We want to engage new players and be ahead of time. We want those wishing to marry to find services that appeal to them. That is why this year we will be introducing players such as those from the city’s BMW and Alteza clubs,” said Nqo adding that the services they would be showcasing would largely appeal to the younger generations.

He noted that they would not do away with developed service providers but instead create a platform for developed and upcoming service providers to share ideas.

He added that they were expecting exhibitors from as far as Harare and Gweru.

“This year the expo will run for two days as we want to cater for everyone. We understand and appreciate that there are some people that work on Saturdays and some will be at church. That is why we want the expo to run for two days,” he said.

Green Gardens director Mrs Molly Mpofu said they would not shun any players in the wedding industry as they were seeking to develop it.

“The expo is open to anyone in the wedding industry. We are sticking to our traditional way of operations but with a new flair. The fourth edition of our expo will offer brides a chance to explore their dreams to come up with dream weddings,” she said.

Mrs Mpofu added that there would be live entertainment.

Wedding expos are held to give people an insight into the latest trends in weddings. Last year the Green Gardens Wedding Expo managed to attract the attention of visiting South Africans, who pledged to partner with the expo this year. The expo was patronised by a multi-racial crowd, a feature the director of the venue — Molly Mpofu — said was essential in assisting in the gathering of different perspectives on weddings from Zimbabwe’s diverse cultures.
