THE second edition of the annual Harvest House International Church Clash hub of choirs competition has been pencilled for 30 August this year and will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

This year the competition will also see choir hubs from South Africa, Botswana and Namibia participating at the event.

In an interview, Harvest House pastor — Busisani Sangweni said the competition was meant to improve church music and identify raw talent from the various church hubs in and outside the country.

“This competition is meant to promote religious music and it is actually a music development project. This competition saw the rise of now prominent vocalist Takesure Ncube, who is now part of a renowned choir — Celebration Choir. We hope to make the best out of this,” said Sangweni.

He added that they were trying to encourage originality and creativity among choirs.

“We are also aiming to promote originality and creativity, as we will also be scouting for music composers. We need to be pioneers of our own brand as a church. If Hillsong can do it what is stopping us from also achieving such?” said Sangweni.

Renowned gospel musicians, Charles Charamba and Lindelani Mkhize are expected to grace the event as judges.

Harvest Terbanacle Choir won the competition last year.
