MULTI-TALENTED Bulawayo artiste Clifford Phiri has released an extended play (EP) titled Street Menace.
Phiri (24) who is popularly known as Cliff-Jeans in the music circles from Magwegwe, said his album is about circumstances he has faced.
“Basically this album is about circumstances that we all go through like love, poverty and being broke. In this album I also reveal that I am tired of a broke life, I want to find myself at another level, far away from where I am today and it was officially launched at Club 09.
“I called the album Street Menace because I am a threat to other rappers in the streets. I want to prove myself lyrically so that upon recognition we can then compete on the international stage and my album is mainly targeted at the youths,” he said.
Asked on his achievements he said.
“I have won the Best Male Artiste of the Year in the Matabeleland North Arts Awards and one of my songs managed to reach Top 10 at Skyz Metro Top 20 charts,” he said.
He said his album contains seven songs and he featured two artistes.
“In this album I featured Easy (South African artiste) and one of our own, the award-winning Calvin Nhliziyo whom I can give credit to my career as I leant a lot from him especially in being a producer. I was also helped by Sounds of Son to make this extended play a possibility,” he said.
As an initiative to market his EP he has embarked on a city to city tour so that his music reaches every part of Zimbabwe.
