THE cold winter spell has forced some ladies of the night in Bulawayo working on street corners to light up fires in a bid to keep warm.

With the drastic drop of temperatures as experienced for the better part of last week, the oldest profession usually suffers a set back with most men preferring to stay indoors.

Unlike other seasons, where milder temperatures allow for the convenience of all-year thigh vending, citizens of Bulawayo must turn to thicker, sturdier working girls who can provide the “high performance” needed to get through what the worst winter has to offer.

“When temperatures drop, you need prostitutes you can depend on when they’re needed most,” said a prostitute who works along Samuel Parirenyatwa Street.

“The last thing you want during winter is a prostitute who isn’t up to the task when it really counts. That’s why we try to be as innovative as possible. The streets are cold and so the best way to keep warm is to light little fires on street corners to keep ourselves warm. As you can see we dress scantily to attract clients so the best we can do is to keep warm by fires,” said another prostitute.
