How Mine, DeMbare clash

The Sunday News

CHAMPIONS Dynamos face How Mine on their maiden 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match in Bulawayo in a potentially exciting clash this afternoon.
While both teams have been in indifferent form in their past four matches, the highly anticipated game is likely to be a humdinger.

Dynamos managed to scrap past FC Platinum with a later strike by Oscar Machapa in the dying minutes of their last PSL tie while How Mine edged new boys Tsholotsho.

However, going into the FC Platinum game, the defending champions had gone for three matches without a win, losing two, while managing a draw in the other. It was almost the same scenario for the gold miners who had lost two of their last three games while winning the other.

Chikurupati made reinforcements at the beginning of the season in the form of former Dynamos sons, Devon Chafa and Tawanda Muparati, while their opponents today snatched Charles Sibanda and Munyaradzi Diya from Highlanders with Limited Chikafa coming in from ZPC Kariba.

How Mine coach, Luke Masomere is confident that his team is gradually finding the rhythm, and will field a full strength squad this afternoon.

He said injuries had forced him to try different combinations in competitive matches but he believed the team was coming good and once it gelled it could prove unstoppable.

“Injuries hit us even before the league started and we have had to keep on trying new combinations in a competitive season but I am glad that even in that situation we managed to get the results but I feel once we settle with the right combinations better results will come our way,” said Masomere, adding that Chafa, Godfrey Nguwodzawo, Thembani Masuku and other charges who had been sidelined due to injury were most likely to be given starting berths.

“They can only become fit if we give them game time and I believe tomorrow’s game presents us with that opportunity. They should start and with more game time I am certain they will become better.

“We should only look up to them as a last resort and then expect them to perform wonders. It is unfortunate we can’t play friendly matches or cup games it is in the competitive league games where they will have to get match fitness,” said Masomere.

The Doctor of Football, as Masomere calls himself, said Dynamos had a culture of winning and the champions will come with that mentality but How Mine will be ready for them.

“They (Dynamos) are the best club in the country and they have a culture of winning but that does not mean they will be able to beat us or play better than us tomorrow (today). We are ready for them,” he said.

DeMbare coach, David “Yogi” Mandigora said they would have to make do without the services of their top marksman, Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo who is in South Africa with the national team taking part in the Cosafa Cup tournament.
