HWANGE-based traditional dance ensemble, Pezhuba Pachena will represent Matabeleland North province at the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional dance finals to be held in Bulawayo after clinching the first spot at a provincial festival in Binga recently.

Pezhuba Pachena managed to shrug off stiff competition from their fellow counterparts from the mining town Vulindlela and an entourage of groups from Binga.

The competition which was held in Binga for the first time since its inception 10 years ago was meant to celebrate cultural diversity in a district that was rich yet unexposed.

Nine groups, two from Hwange and seven from Binga districts took part in the tightly contested festival which eventually saw Pezhuba Pachena clinching the first prize which was accompanied by $500 cash while contenders, Binga-based Chililayi Traditional dance group walked away $300 richer.

Vulindlela Theatre production managed to settle for the third position with a $200 cash prize while all groups received $100 for participating in the competition.
