Gearing up for golden reunion!

IT emerged earlier this year that the Spice Girls (pictured above) were going to be delighting fans worldwide by reuniting once again to perform at the London 2012 Olympics’ closing ceremony.

And while the five-piece have yet to officially comment on the reports, they confirmed the news as they were spotted rehearsing for tonight’s performance.

Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B were all seen going through the routine during the rehearsals at the Ford car plant in Dagenham, east London, last Thursday, gearing up for the concert.

Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, Sporty Spice and Scary Spice proved they’ve very much still got it as they belted out their songs in preparation for today’s show, which will be watched by millions around the globe.

The girls had all dressed up for the rehearsals, with Victoria leading the way in her favourite colour — black.

The mother-of-four wore a pair of super-tight leather trousers, the obligatory sky-high black heels and a black top, along with her sunglasses as she joined her bandmates on stage.

Emma opted for a floral dress and sparkly pink heels — a nod to her Baby Spice alter-ego — as she strode confidently across the stage, while Mel B enhanced her figure in a pair of tight white jeans, vest top and black knee-high boots.

Mel C and Geri both went for more casual approaches for the rehearsal, with Geri wearing denim shorts and a grey vest top with heeled boots, and Mel going for an all-black outfit a la Victoria, with platform trainers.

Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, first fuelled rumours of a Spice Girls Olympics reunion earlier this year when she said she would consider it a snub if the band were not involved in the event in some way.

She said: “I’d be really upset if the Spice Girls weren’t included in the Olympics, whether it be the opening or closing ceremonies or any other playlists, because I think we absolutely represented Britain in the 90s.

“We literally flew the flag — and Geri even wore it — around the globe. We were proud to be British and to be successful internationally, and we were the last band probably to do that.

“So I think it would be a real shame if we weren’t acknowledged in some way at the Olympics.’’

Victoria then added to the speculation when she said in an interview that she’d be happy to reunite with the girls for a one-off performance.

She said: “I’m so respectful of my past and I love the other girls. We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more.

“I don’t know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we’ll see. If they’re up for something then I certainly am.’’

She then added: “We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics.’’
