IN a rather comic incident, a Kombi driver and his conductor kidnapped a woman and took her to what   they termed “a tour of the wilderness”.

Gift Moyo (27) who resides in number 284 Cowdray Park and Tapiwa Moyo (22) of number 2284 Cowday Park appeared before  Bulawayo Provincial Magistrate, Ms Thobekile Mkhosana, for contravening Section 93 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act), Chapter 9:23 (kidnapping).

The curcumstances as presented by the prosecutor, Mr Trust Muduma, are that on 19 August at around 5pm, Miss Progress Ncube boarded a commuter omnibus at Emagetsini  intending to be dropped at Norwood.

On arrival at Norwood, the driver and the conductor did not stop as per the orders of their passenger as they told her they were taking her for a ride into the wilderness.

When she continued pestering them they told her they would drop her off on their way  to town and should take it as a joyride as they would refund her money as a thank you for accompanying them.

The two accused persons drove to Lupane were most of their passengers were destined. After all the other pasengers had disembarked they proceeded to Jotsholo where they spent the night with the complainant.

On the early hours the following day they picked up passengers who were destined for town.They drove back and dropped the complainant at Emakhandeni Bus Terminus where she got another lift to her place.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the two men.

They were remanded out of custody to 4 September.
