FORMER Amakorokoza actress Proficience Cadder popularly known as Kadder in music circles, has released a song Sukuma Ntombazana which is a dedication to all women in the country. To those who followed the local soapie Amakorokoza, Kadder played the role of WonkeWonke who was a girlfriend to Mbizo. In an interview with Sunday Leisure, the Dlala bek’bone hit-maker said the track Sukuma Ntombazana, loosely translated is (stand up girl), encourages women to take their position in society and make their own decisions.

“This song implores women to stand up and since it is women’s month I have dedicated it to all the women in Africa,” she said.
She says women who embark on numerous cross-border trips to look after their families should be celebrated, single mothers should be celebrated, those women who sell wares at the street corner should be celebrated, female pilots, judges, and soldiers should also be recognised.

“The community is always celebrating women with high posts like the politicians and ministers, we forget to celebrate the ordinary woman who sits in the corner and sells tomatoes and as for me I believe a woman remains that no matter what position one holds in a community,” she said.

Sukuma Ntombazana was this year’s theme song during International Women’s Day commemorations which were organised by the National Youth Development Trust in March.

Kadder said she has started working on a video for the single track and is not going to have the ordinary dancing girls clip, but one where a viewer can follow and relate.
She said on the video she was working in conjunction with Sunduza, a Pumula-based traditional arts group.

Kadder has shared the stage with known South African artistes such as Bricks, Mapaputsi, BujuMuju, Malaika and Dan Tshanda of the Matshikosi fame and danced for Khuxxman and Street Niggaz.

She was recently profiled in this year’s Jewel Magazine and performed in this year’s National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) that were held in February.
