HIGHLANDERS put up a pathetic display in a goalless draw against Triangle United at Barbourfields Stadium a result which saw them blow up an opportunity to go regain top spot.

A win over Triangle would have seen Highlanders reclaim their place on top of the log as the win would have taken them to 33 points, the same as FC Platinum. Had they won, Bosso were going to become the leader of the log as they have a superior goal difference to that of the Zvishavane based platinum miners. Highlanders after their stalemate of the season remain second on the log with 31 points and could slide further down if they lose to Caps United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Highlanders put a dismal show throughout the afternoon as they failed to create any goal scoring opportunities. Bruce Kangwa, away on assessment at Tanzanian club Azam had his creativity upfront missed as the combination of Nhlanhla Ndlovu and Prince Dube did not trouble the Triangle defence.   Triangle could have punished Highlanders on numerous occasions but their strike force led by Malvern Gaki failed to make Bosso pay for inept defending especially in the second half.

Erol Akbay, the Highlanders coach has a lot of hard work to do in trying to motivate his troops ahead of the trip to Harare.
