NATIONAL Rugby League chairman Noddy Kanyangarara is convinced the league will see off the season despite sponsorship blues.
The nine team NRL is set to resume on Saturday after a lengthy break but unless a sponsor is found, it might turn out to be the last weekend of action. So far nine rounds of games have been played since the start of the league in April with the matches financed by the prize money for the clubs last season. The money was withheld by the league management with the hope to disburse it in the event they secured a sponsor.

The NRL caters for transport for the teams, medical services and referees fees.

“We hope to come right in terms of sponsorship in the next few weeks because if that does not happen we are in trouble. We are giving it till mid September then we call it off,’’ said Kanyangarara.

The NRL was left without a sponsor when Delta Beverages, their benefactor for three years, pulled out at the start of the current season.
