BULAWAYO’S high-density suburbs have in the past proven to have plenty of talent only needing a breakthrough to the arts industry.

Areas like Luveve have produced the likes of Cal_Vin who is now a hip-hop heavyweight in the City of Kings.

Well, thriving master of ceremony, Gordon ‘‘Black Diamond’’ Chimombe and Francis Keith Chirau who last year came up with the project Kasi Vibes Movement, have now put the project into practice.

Last week, the search of talent took centre stage at Emakhandeni and Lobengula West suburbs, and the results were amazing. Hundreds of youths in their early 20s attended the searches in the two respective suburbs and gave a gruelling contest.

So far, the Kasi Vibes has already discovered a talented musician called Prince from Lobengula West whom they want to link up with Tanzanian singer, Dayo proving to everyone the importance of this movement.

Black Diamond said Kasi Vibes Movement is an entertainment movement which seeks to expose the buried talent within high density suburbs popularly known as Ekasi, among Bulawayo residents.

“There are many potential superstars who are yet to be discovered in disadvantaged communities. With the economic situation currently not good, they find it hard to convince arts producers to believe in their talents. Kasi Vibes will mainly focus on areas like Magwegwe, Makokoba, Sizinda and many more high density areas in the search of buried of talents,” he said.

“The Kasi Vibes Team has started touring around these areas, hosting shows that will give opportunity to everyone who believes he or she is talented.

The selection of talent is not gender-based, but people will be chosen according to the way they showcase their talents. Artistes that will be discovered by the team will be linked up with prominent arts producers of Bulawayo which is a glorious opportunity to any artiste seeking a breakthrough,” he said.

The movement seeks everyone who is talented in music, dance, catering and fashion. @NcubeBhekumuzi
