CAPS United president, Farai Jere is set to take over the Premier Soccer League chairmanship after being the only candidate to file papers to contest the position.

It seems there was no appetite to lead the PSL after the Zifa Electoral Committee set the nomination fee at $3000.

In a statement, Zifa communications manager, Xolisani Gwesela confirmed Jere had been confirmed at PSL chairperson after being the only candidate and being cleared by the electoral committee.

There were no takers for the post of PSL vice chairperson and there is set to be a by-election to fill in the post.

The Zifa Electoral Committee convened on the 19 June following the close of nominations for Beach Soccer, Futsal, Zimbabwe Women Soccer League (ZWSL) and PSLon Friday 15 June.

In the ZWSL, incumbent chairperson, Rosemary Kanonge is set to battle it out with her outgoing treasurer, Barbra Chikosi for the top post.

Northern Region chairperson, Wilbert Rambanepasi goes in uncontested as vice chairperson with Beaullar Msarah, Tafadzwa Mujuru, Panganai Mahachi and Brendah Gorejena also having successfully submitted their papers for board member positions.

The contest for Beach Soccer chairperson is set to be between Joseph Musariri and Marshall Jonga while Lovemore Chidhakwa is set to lead Futsal for the next four years after filing papers uncontested and he will be deputised by Victor Muzadzi who was the only administrator to seek election for that post.

Gwesela said all the elections for the respective affiliates (ZWSL, PSL, Beach Soccer, Futsal) will be held on 14 July at venues to be advised later.
