THE High Court in Bulawayo will on Friday pass a judgment on the case involving Rodney Tongai Jindu, the man accused of killing two of his friends for ritual purposes.

The judgment was initially set for Monday but High Court Judge Justice Nokuthula  Moyo postponed the matter after two court officials that were meant to be present during the passing of judgment were not available.

During his trial last month Jindu threatened to unleash Lucifer on chief public prosecutor Mrs Tariro Rosa Takuva who was assisting her subordinate Ms Nokuthaba Ngwenya.

Prosecutors are advocating for the death sentence to be passed against Jindu for killing his a friend, Cyprian Kudzurunga and neighbour, Mboneli Joko Ncube.

Initially, Jindu pleaded not guilty but when the trial kicked off before Justice Nokuthula Moyo, he admitted that he committed the offence.

The court had previously heard that Jindu was mentally ill but following a medical examination, he was declared fit to stand trial.

During trial, Jindu told the court that when he committed the murder he was under the influence of heroin and methamphetamine (crystal meth) which created an urge for him to kill.

He also confessed that he ate the pair’s raw livers and cooked the brains before consuming them. Jindu was accused of having shot Kudzunga in January last year while they were walking from Glengarry to Queenspark East in January last year. He was armed with an optima shotgun serial number 13752.

He shot Kudzurunga twice on the head and abdomen and he died on the spot. Jindu then took the body using a wheelbarrow and bundled it into the boot of the car. He took the deceased’s mobile phone and laptop and later buried him in a shallow grave. Jundu also killed Ncube by shooting him before he chopped his body into several parts before burying some of the parts in four different shallow graves.
