PROPHETIC Healing Deliverance founder and leader Walter Magaya paid allowances for the Zimbabwe 15s rugby 27 players during their participation in the Regal Hotels Cup of Nations in Hong Kong last month.

Sables team manager Sam Samu said the team met Magaya days before they left for Hong Kong where they told him of their wishes and that is when he decided to avail funds to cover their allowances.

During the meetings with Magaya, Samu said the man of the cloth revealed that he was actually a rugby player during his school days and won player of the year for Quench where he played in the second row. Magaya also owns Yadah Rugby Club, a team which plays in the Harare Metropolitan League.

“We didn’t have allowances, he has a team Yadah which plays in the Harare Metro League so we already have a relationship.

We attended an announcement meeting in church, he said he was a rugby player for Quench and was player of the year at 15 and played lock, he has a passion for rugby. Players went for lunch that is when they told him their wishes in terms of their welfare. He gave players allowances, there was a fixed amount for each player.

Some of the church members want the players to advertise all night prayers but instead they got his birth T-shirts, they were optional, no one was asked to wear them,’’ said Samu.

The Sables team manager said Magaya expressed his willingness to work with Zimbabwean rugby with the nature of the relationship depending on what wish list is presented by those running the sport.
