A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Masvingo’s Runyararo West suburb will spend an effective 30 days in prison for defecating at a sex worker’s doorstep in protest over poor service. Liberty Madanhire (24) pleaded not guilty to a charge of public nuisance and malicious damage to property when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso early last week.
He was, however, convicted due to overwhelming evidence.
Mr Joshua Mudondo, for the State, said on 6 March, Madanhire hired a sex worker only identified as Memory of Chiororo Street in Mucheke A.
On the day, Madanhire went to check for her at her house at around 8pm but when he knocked, Rudo Zvoushe answered the door. He demanded to see Memory after which he claimed that she had his money which he now wanted.
Mr Mudondo said Madanhire wanted his money from Memory because she was dodging him and claimed that when they became intimate for the first time, he never enjoyed her services “as Memory was poor in bed”.
The court heard that when Zvoushe told Madanhire that Memory was no longer staying at the house, he did not believe her and became angry.
Madanhire accused Zvoushe of hiding Memory and started calling her names before going berserk and throwing stones at the house, destroying property and window panes at the house, causing Zvoushe to scurry for cover.
Madanhire, who looked drunk went on to defecate on the doorstep, accusing Zvoushe of hiding his girlfriend.
Zvoushe screamed for help, thereby attracting neighbours who attended the scene and threatened to beat up Madanhire before ordering him to remove his mess using his bare hands.
A report was then made to the police leading to his arrest.
Property damaged was valued at $28.
