DETE-BASED Marist Brothers High School’s preparations for this schools soccer calendar got a soccer kit donation boost ahead of the Copa Coca-Cola Nash Matabeleland North qualifying rounds.

Canada-based former student, Thuba Ncube donated the kit which was unveiled at the school on Wednesday before hundred of pupils.

The red and white kit’s designing, sourcing and ultimate shipping was co-ordinated by the school’s sports mistress, Elizabeth Nyathi and speaking from his Canada base, Ncube said First Mobile Soccer Academy’s Isaac Mbedzi inspired this donation.

“Two years ago I passed by our school and one of the teachers asked if I could donate a soccer kit. It was always my dream to give back to the school that gave me so much. So I’m glad to say today that dream came true.

“The soccer kit was presented on Wednesday at assembly and I hear it was an eventful and moving ceremony. I would like thank the sports mistress, my friend and ex-classmate Elizabeth Nyathi for helping and being there every step of the way, from sourcing to shipping it and eventually presenting it to the school. I would also like to thank my friend Isaac Mbedzi, director of FMSA for encouraging me to go ahead with the project. Hope the school enjoys it and wins trophies,” said Ncube.

The school’s rich sports products include Madinda Ndlovu, who attended school when the school was based at St Luke’s, Noel Kaseke and to volleyball it contributed veteran administrator Thabani Dube who later formed Thabani Sparrows based at Tshaka Sports Club.
