ZANU-PF Matabeleland North Province says it is ready to take up various programmes lined up this year, with the 21st February Movement Celebrations topping the list.

This was said by provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo during the party’s Provincial Executive Council (PEC) in Lupane yesterday.

The PEC was held to outline the province’s plan of action for 2017. The province is expected to raise $25 000 for the celebrations which will be held at Matopo National Park in Matabeleland South Province. Cde Moyo said all wings of the party have to assist the Youth League in planning for the event.

“The Women’s League and the main wing will come in to assist the youths so that the event is a success. They need our support and we will assist in fundraising too,” he said.

Cde Moyo said the party must encourage youths to acquire identification particulars and register for next year’ harmonised elections.

“Those that have no identification particulars especially the youths should get them so they can vote in 2018. There are some who just completed school, they must get IDs and be able to exercise their rights,” he said.

The provincial leadership said they were hamstrung over the fate of Cde Believe Gaule who had defected to MDC but has now reverted back to the ruling party. Cde Gaule is a former Senator for Tsholotsho.

“When Cde Gaule returned to Zanu-PF, we welcomed him with both hands, which was fair. We then allowed him to be active in the business of the party at cell level. The challenge is that we now have to make a decision over his case because he once defected. So we will have to push this issue in our PCC which will be in two week’s time and we make a decision from that point,” said Cde Moyo.

He said the party has been monitoring Cde Gaule and party members were impressed with his conduct and want to continue working with him.
