Midlands Education consultancy firm launched

TWO renowned educationists from Gweru, Messrs Stanley Muringi and Charles Dzimba have formed a first-ever education consultancy company to offer education advisory services to private schools in the Midlands province.

The company, Midlands Education Consultancy, offers educational and administrative advisory services to school heads, school development committees (SDCs), parents and other learning institutions on corporate governance, transparency and accountability.

Messrs Dzimba and Muringi said the Gweru-based company will assist in enhancing learning and teaching methods for private colleges as well as increasing accessibility of basic education to the less privileged children and repeaters.

Speaking during the launch of the company, Mr Muringi who boasts of 44 years of experience in the education sector says the company is aimed at improving the quality of education in the province.

“When we formed the consultancy our aim was to create a difference in the education sector. We want to bring in fresh ideas that will help in pass rate increase, good management of school funds and to also help in making education easily accessible to both the young, old, the poor and the rich,” said Muringi.

Speaking during the same function as well, Mr Dzimba said the company is receiving lot of support from Midlands Independent Colleges Association (MICA).

“We have also engaged the Midlands Independent Colleges Association (MICA) and they are fully supporting our vision. We want to help schools produce competent results at national level. We will also assist in making sure that educational institutions employ qualified and professional personnel,” said Dzimba.

Before starting their consultancy, both Messrs Dzimba and Muringi had been serving in the Ministry of Education for 44 years.

Mr Dzimba was a teacher at Makaru Girls’ and Mangula Secondary Schools before being a lecturer at Mkoba Teacher’s College.

He became the Education Officer in the Midlands Province before becoming the Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Education responsible for sports.

Mr Muringi who also has a vast experience in the education sector started as a teacher a Kutama before becoming the Headmaster at Ascot and Guinea Fowl High Schools.

He also served as an Education Officer for Gweru district as well as the Provincial Inspector in the non-formal education.
